Star Moving & Storage
100 Years of Greatness
Star Moving & Storage Co. was founded in 1924 by Louis Keller and Hank Greenbaum.
During prohibition, the warehouse was located above a grocery store. One day the meat on display began to turn green unexpectedly. The health inspector was summoned to find the explanation for the sudden change. It was discovered that something had leaked down from warehouse above the store. It was determined that the cause of the leak was illegal whiskey being stored above the display. Following this incident, Mr. Greenbaum was forced to leave the business.
In the 1940's, Paul Helmes went to work at Star Moving. Following the death of Mr. Keller, Mrs. Keller offered to sell the business to Mr. and Mrs. Helmes.
In 1957, the business was incorporated in the state of Ohio.
In 1987, the company was sold by Mrs. Helmes. It was purchased this time by Chris Maltbie, Mark Maltbie, Kurt Helmes and Steve Helmes. Steve left the company some time after that.
Over the years, Star Moving has transformed from a local household goods mover, to a long distance household goods mover, and so many more changes over the years. Star Moving now offers storage options, local moving services, services for interior designers, and much more. Star will continue to evolve and grow with the communities they serve.
